Research

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must indicate why the manuscript is suitable for publication and disclose any third-party writing or editing assistance or submission made on the authors' behalf by a non-author.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must be 250 words. Abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Research articles should limit the Background section to no more than 1000 words and the Discussion section to no more than 1500 words. Research articles must be ordered as Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgment, Author Contributions, Declaration of Conflicting Interests, and References. Include at least 4 keywords after the abstract and a Statements and Declarations section with required subheadings at the end of the article.
References References must be listed in numerical order in the same order they are cited in the text, include all authors with surname followed by first initial, use NLM journal title abbreviations, and include only sources cited in the text.
Figures & Tables Research articles are anticipated to contain 5-10 figures. Figures, charts, and tables created in Word should be included in the main text, while figures and other files created outside Word should be submitted separately with a placeholder note in the running text. Figures must be numbered consecutively, and tables must be labeled as tables with a number and title and must be editable text rather than images.

Conflicting Report

Manuscript Conflicting Reports must follow a length similar to a Short Report. Conflicting Reports must acknowledge the previous key finding first and then present the conflicting results. Manuscript must include at least 4 keywords after the abstract and a 'Statements and Declarations' section at the end including the required subheadings.
References References must be listed in numerical order of citation, include all authors with surname followed by first initial, use NLM journal title abbreviations, and include only sources cited in the text.
