Journal of Neurodevelopmental Disorders provides an interdisciplinary venue for research across the full range of neurodevelopmental disorders, integrating neurology, developmental neurobiology, genetics, psychiatry, and psychology to compare phenomenology, mechanisms, and etiologies. Since 2018, it has published an annual article collection in collaboration with the NICHD-funded Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Centers.

Research Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must explain why the manuscript should be published in Journal of Neurodevelopmental Disorders, address any issues relating to journal policies, declare any potential competing interests, confirm all authors approved the submission, confirm the content has not been published or submitted elsewhere, and name the special issue if applicable.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions, and articles reporting health care interventions on human participants must also include a Trial registration section.
Manuscript Manuscript must include a title page, Background, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, and a Declarations section. Manuscript must include three to ten keywords, a list of abbreviations if abbreviations are used, a Competing Interests section, required Declarations subheadings with 'Not applicable' where irrelevant, and any use of a large language model must be documented in the Methods section or suitable alternative part.
References References must follow Vancouver style. Only published or in-press articles, clinical trial registration records, abstracts, and publicly available preprints may be cited; unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must not appear in the reference list; journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus/MEDLINE; and web links must be numbered and included in the reference list with full site title, URL, and access date.
Figures & Tables Figure titles and legends must appear in the main manuscript rather than the graphic files, tables shorter than one page can be placed within the manuscript while longer tables can be placed at the end, and tables must not be embedded as figures or spreadsheet files. Figures must be uploaded separately in the order first cited with multi-panel figures as single composite files, and tables must be numbered in sequence using Arabic numerals.

Manuscript must include three to ten keywords, an Availability of data and materials statement, authors' contributions, competing interests, funding and acknowledgements information within the Declarations section, a list of abbreviations if abbreviations are used, and disclosure of large language model use in the Methods section or another suitable section if no Methods section is available.
References References must follow Vancouver style. Web links and URLs must be cited with a reference number and included in the reference list in full, unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must not appear in the reference list, and journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus/MEDLINE.
Figures & Tables Tables under one page may be placed within the manuscript, larger tables may be placed at the end of the document with callouts in the text, figure titles and legends must appear in the manuscript rather than in the graphic files, and figures must be uploaded separately in the order cited. Multi-panel figures must be submitted as a single composite file, tables must be created using the word processor's Table function rather than embedded as figures or spreadsheets, and table titles and figure titles must not exceed 15 words while table legends and figure legends must not exceed 300 words.
