Journal Of Obesity & Metabolic Syndrome accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Original Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is included in the required submission order.
Abstract A structured abstract is required for Original Articles. The abstract must not exceed 250 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must present research background, methods, results, and conclusion in that order, and the Methods section must include the study type, study setting, and number of participants if applicable.
Manuscript The manuscript must not exceed 4,000 words excluding abstract, references, figures, and tables. The main text must consist of Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion sections. The manuscript must include three to seven keywords below the abstract, a declaration of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies before the references if applicable, conflicts of interest, acknowledgments, author contributions, and a required graphical abstract.
References References must not exceed 40. References must be cited with consecutive superscript numbers in order of first appearance, with all authors listed for six or fewer authors and the first six followed by et al. for seven or more authors, and journal names abbreviated according to Index Medicus.
Figures & Tables Tables and figures combined must not exceed 6. Tables and figures should appear after the references in the manuscript order, and figure legends should be provided on a separate sheet. The graphical abstract should present the main results visually and clearly.

Review

Cover Letter A cover letter should be included with the submission.
Abstract An abstract is required for this article type. The abstract must be unstructured and no more than 250 words. The abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript The manuscript must not exceed 5,000 words excluding the abstract, references, figures, and tables. The manuscript should include Introduction, Main text, and Conclusion sections. The submission must include keywords, a Conflicts of Interest section, an Author contributions section, and a graphical abstract, and any use of generative AI must be disclosed in a section titled “Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies” before the reference list.
References The manuscript must not exceed 120 references.
Figures & Tables The manuscript must include at least 2 and no more than 8 tables and/or figures. A graphical abstract is required and should present the main results visually and clearly.

Meta-Analysis

Cover Letter A cover letter is required as the first item in the manuscript order.
Abstract A structured abstract is required for Meta-Analyses. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include background, methods, results, and conclusion in that order.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 4,000 words excluding abstract, references, figures, and tables. Main text must follow the IMRaD structure of Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion. Manuscript must include three to seven keywords below the abstract and a Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies before the reference list if generative AI was used.
References References must not exceed 80. References must be cited as superscript numbers in consecutive order of first appearance, with all authors listed for six or fewer authors and the first six followed by et al. for seven or more authors.
Figures & Tables Tables and figures combined must not exceed 6. Tables, figures, and figure legends should appear after the references in the manuscript order. Figure legends should be written on a separate sheet.

Short Communication

Cover Letter Short Communication submissions should include a cover letter.
Abstract Short Communications must include an abstract. The abstract must be structured and no more than 150 words. The abstract must be structured.
Manuscript The manuscript must not exceed 1,000 words excluding the abstract, tables, figures, legends, title page, acknowledgments, and references. Short Communication submissions should include a title page, abstract and keywords, main text, Conflicts of Interest section, Acknowledgments if necessary, Author contributions section, references, tables, figure legends, and figures. A Conflicts of Interest section, keywords, an Author contributions section, and a Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies before the reference list are required when generative AI is used.
References Short Communications must not exceed 20 references.
Figures & Tables Short Communications must not exceed 2 tables/figures.

Letter To The Editor

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is not required for Letters To The Editor.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 1,000 words excluding references. Letter should generally present criticism or opinion about a manuscript published in the journal within the past six months. Any use of generative AI must be disclosed in a section titled “Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies” before the reference list, including the tool name, version, and purpose.
References References must not exceed 10.
Figures & Tables Tables and figures are not permitted.
