Journal of Periodontal & Implant Science accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Research Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must describe each author's contribution and inform the editor of any potential overlap with already published or concurrently evaluated material, including how the submission differs substantially from that material.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must be 300 words or fewer. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Purpose, Methods, Results, and Conclusions, and include a keyword list at the end with no more than 6 MeSH terms.
Manuscript Body text must not exceed 4,000 words. Manuscript must be organized as Cover page, Abstract, Body text with Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion, Conflict of interest, Acknowledgements if necessary, References, Tables, and Figure legends. The manuscript must include a conflict of interest section and a CRediT Taxonomy description of all authors' contributions on the cover page, and the abstract must end with up to 6 MeSH keywords.
References References must not exceed 40. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first mention, cited in the text as bracketed numbers, use abbreviated journal titles, list all authors when there are 6 or fewer and the first 6 followed by 'et al.' when there are more than 6, and include start and end page numbers.
Figures & Tables Tables must be typed on separate pages. Tables and figures must be numbered in order of citation, and figure legends must explain each figure separately and define all abbreviations used in the figure.

Reviews

Manuscript Body text must not exceed 5,000 words. Reviews must be organized as Cover page, Abstract, Body text with Introduction, Text, and Conclusion, Conflict of interest, Acknowledgements if necessary, References, Tables, and Figure legends.
References References must not exceed 100.

References A maximum of five references is allowed.
