It is an international journal that fosters orthodontic research, including both basic research and development of innovative clinical techniques, and welcomes submissions including research articles, review articles, and brief reports.

Research Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required for Research Articles. The cover letter must explain why the manuscript should be published, address any issues relating to journal policies, declare any potential competing interests, confirm all authors approved the submission, and confirm the manuscript has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
Abstract An abstract is required for Research Articles. The abstract must not exceed 350 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must include the headings Background, Methodology, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript The text must not exceed 4,500 words, excluding the title page, references, tables, figures, and supplementary material. The manuscript must include Background, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, and a Declarations heading, with Methods allowed after Background. The manuscript must include three to ten keywords, a list of abbreviations if abbreviations are used, and documentation of any Large Language Model use in the Methods section or another suitable part of the manuscript.
References References must use the Basic Springer reference style. Only published, in-press, or publicly available preprint articles, clinical trial registration records, and abstracts may be cited, unpublished abstracts/data/personal communications must not appear in the reference list, journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus/MEDLINE, and URLs must be numbered and included in the reference list in full with access dates.
Figures & Tables Tables must be included in the main manuscript file, with smaller tables placed near their citation and larger tables at the end of the document, while figures must be uploaded separately in citation order and multi-panel figures submitted as a single composite file. Figure titles must not exceed 15 words and legends 300 words, table titles must not exceed 15 words and legends 300 words, figure titles and legends must appear in the manuscript rather than image files, and tables must not be submitted as figures.

Review Article

Manuscript must include three to ten keywords, document any use of a Large Language Model in the Methods section or suitable alternative, provide a list of abbreviations if abbreviations are used, and include all Declarations headings with 'Not applicable' where a section is irrelevant.
References References must use Vancouver style. Web links and URLs must be numbered and included in the reference list in full with the site title, URL, and access date, journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus/MEDLINE, and unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must not appear in the reference list.
Figures & Tables Figure titles and legends must appear in the main manuscript rather than in graphic files, tables must be included in the main manuscript file, tables under one page may be placed within the manuscript, and larger tables may be placed at the end with their locations indicated in the text. Multi-panel figures must be submitted as a single composite file, figures and tables must be numbered in the order cited, figure titles must not exceed 15 words, figure and table legends must not exceed 300 words, and tables must not be submitted as figures.

Brief Reports

Manuscript Main text should contain the body of the article and may be divided into short, informative subsections, and the manuscript must include a Declarations section. Manuscript must document any use of a Large Language Model in the Methods section or other suitable section, define abbreviations at first use, provide a list of abbreviations if used, and include Declarations headings for Ethics approval and consent to participate, Consent for publication, Availability of data and material, Competing interests, Funding, Authors' contributions, and Acknowledgements, with optional Authors' information and 'Not applicable' where a section is irrelevant.
References References must follow Vancouver style. Only published or in-press articles, clinical trial registration records, abstracts, and public e-print or preprint items may be cited in the reference list; unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must not appear there; journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus/MEDLINE; and web links and URLs must be numbered and listed in full with site title, URL, and access date.
