Cover letter should include the corresponding author's affiliation and contact information, explain the importance of the work and its suitability for the journal's readership, and confirm that the submission is original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 300 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Background, Objective, Methods, Results, and Significance.
Manuscript Main text must not exceed 7,000 words excluding references, tables/figures, and figure legends. Manuscript must include Title page, Structured Abstract, Introduction, Materials (or Subjects) and Methods, Results, Discussion, Data Availability Statement, References, Acknowledgements, Author Contribution Statement, Funding, Ethical Approval, Competing Interests, Figure legends, Tables, and Figures. Manuscript may include 3 to 6 keywords, must include an Impact Statement after the abstract of no more than 100 words, and large language model use must be documented in the Methods section or another suitable part of the manuscript.
References A maximum of 75 references is allowed. References must follow Vancouver format. References must be cited as numbered entries in citation order, listed numerically, with up to six authors named before using et al. for additional authors.
Figures & Tables A maximum of 6 tables or figures is allowed. Figures must not be embedded in the text and must be uploaded as separate files, and each table must be uploaded as a separate file. Figure legends must appear on a separate manuscript page after the References section, tables must be editable, and figures and tables must be labeled sequentially and cited in the text.
