Original Article

Cover Letter Cover letter is optional and may be included when applicable to provide additional context for the submission.
Abstract Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured as a research abstract with objective, methods, results, and discussion for research articles. Abstract for research articles must include the headings objective, methods, results, and discussion.
Manuscript Manuscript must be less than 3,000 words excluding references. Original research articles must include a formal limitations section. Manuscript must include a declaration statement, 3-5 keywords, and, if generative AI was used, a declaration of AI-assisted technologies before the references.
References References must follow American Medical Association style. Unpublished results and personal communications must not be included in the reference list.
Figures & Tables Original Articles may include no more than 7 tables and figures in total. Figures and tables must be included in the manuscript document for initial submission. Any submission with figures must include figure legends after the references.

Brief Reports

Cover Letter Cover letter is required for provisionally accepted or revised submissions and should be included when applicable at initial submission. Brief Reports cover letters must reference the editor invitation.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured as a research abstract or formatted appropriately for a review. Research abstracts must include objective, methods, results, and discussion.
Manuscript Brief Reports must be no greater than 1,400 words including references. Brief Reports must contain sections for a brief description of the problem, what the authors did, and outcomes and limitations, and must not include a conclusion section. Manuscript must include a declaration statement and, if generative AI was used, a declaration of AI and AI-assisted technologies before the references, and authors must provide 3-5 keywords.
References Brief Reports references are limited to 8 or fewer. References must follow American Medical Association Manual of Style. Unpublished results and personal communications must not appear in the reference list.
Figures & Tables Brief Reports may include no more than 3 tables and/or figures. Figures and tables must be included in the manuscript document at initial submission and, if provisionally accepted or invited to revise, separate figure files and editable tables must be provided. Any submission with figures must include a figure legend after the references.

References Letter to the Editor must include no more than 3 references, including the previously published article being addressed. References must follow AMA style. Unpublished results and personal communications must not appear in the reference list.
