Submission Instructions

Macromolecular Bioscience accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Research Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required only if the submission is a revised or extended version of a manuscript previously rejected by the journal. The cover letter must inform the editor of the previous submission and explain in detail what changes have been made.
Abstract Research Articles must include a short abstract. The abstract must not exceed 200 words. The abstract structure type is not explicitly specified.
Manuscript A typical Research Article is around 3000 to 8000 words in its entirety. Research Articles must include an introduction summarizing the objectives and main conclusions, the main text, a conclusion summarizing the conclusions that can be drawn, and a subsection entitled "Statistical Analysis" at the end of the Experimental Section. Research Articles must include 3 to 7 keywords, and any substantial use of generative AI must be disclosed transparently in the Methods section, a disclosure, or the Acknowledgements as applicable.
References References must use numbered citations in square brackets or as superscripts in the text. References must be numbered in citation order and include author names, full article titles where applicable, full journal or book titles, year, volume and issue or chapter, and pagination, and if there are more than six authors, three must be listed followed by "et al.".
Figures & Tables A typical Research Article includes 3 to 8 display items. Figures and schemes must be inserted inline within the main text, while tables must be included in the manuscript document. Figure and table legends must include the required experimental details such as sample size, replicates, statistical information, error bar definitions, and relevant scale or magnification information where applicable.

Review

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Review must include a short abstract. Abstract must not exceed 200 words.
Manuscript Review is typically 10,000 to 20,000 words in its entirety. Review should be divided into appropriate sections. Manuscript must include 3 to 7 keywords, and if generative AI was used to substantially edit, develop, or translate the manuscript its use must be disclosed in the submission or manuscript.
References References must be cited with numbered square-bracket citations in the text. References must be numbered in order of citation, include full article and journal titles, and if a work has more than six authors, list three followed by "et al.".
Figures & Tables Review typically includes 5 to 15 display items. Figures and schemes must be inserted inline within the main text, while tables must be included in the manuscript documents. Each figure, scheme, and table must have a caption or brief legend and be cited in the text in numerical order.
