Molecular Therapy Oncology is an international, online-only, open-access journal focusing on the development and testing of cancer therapies in pre-clinical and clinical settings. It provides a forum for biologic cancer therapies including viral, bacterial, cellular, and gene therapy, and also considers innovative approaches to cancer treatment and predictive biomarkers of response. Most accepted papers have translational relevance.

Original Research Article

Cover Letter A cover letter on institutional letterhead is required. Cover letter must explain the conceptual advance and relevance to readers, disclose information relevant to handling or evaluation, declare financial conflicts of interest, and describe any related papers and how they relate to the submission.
Abstract An unstructured abstract is required. Abstract must be no more than 200 words. Abstract must be unstructured and presented as a single paragraph.
Manuscript Manuscript must be organized as abstract, introduction, results, discussion, materials & methods, data availability statement, acknowledgments, author contributions, declaration of interests statement, 5-10 keywords, references, tables, and a list of figure legends, with results and discussion in separate sections. Manuscript must include 5-10 keywords, an author contributions section, a separate Declaration of Interests section before the references, a declaration of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process before the references when applicable, a graphical abstract, and an eTOC synopsis of 50 words or fewer in paragraph form.
References References must include only published or in-press works, be cited as superscript numbers in order of appearance after punctuation, be listed in numerical order, use PubMed journal abbreviations, and list the first ten authors followed by et al. when there are more than ten authors.
Figures & Tables No more than 8 display items, including figures and tables, may be included. For initial review, figures may be included after the tables in the manuscript file, and high-resolution figures must also be uploaded separately. Tables must be created as Word tables with informative titles above them, and figure legends must be provided in a list rather than on the high-resolution figure files.

References Letter To The Editor manuscripts may include a maximum of 10 references. References must be cited as superscript numerals in order of appearance, and the reference list must be numbered in that same order with more than ten authors shortened to the first ten followed by et al.
