Abstract
Abstract is required and must appear on a separate page. Abstract must be 300 words. Abstract must be structured as a four-paragraph abstract. Abstract headings must be 'Background and hypothesis', 'Methods', 'Results' and 'Conclusions'.
Manuscript
Manuscript must not exceed 3500 words including the abstract but excluding references, tables and figures. Manuscript must include the sections Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, Conflict of Interest Statement, Authors’ Contributions, Funding, Data Availability Statement, References, Tables, Legends to figures and Figures. Manuscript must include a graphical abstract, three key learning points, no more than 5 keywords placed after the key learning points, 'What was known', 'This study adds', and 'Potential impact' sections, and an AI disclosure in the Methods or Acknowledgements section if AI was used.
References
References must not exceed 50. References must follow Oxford SCIMED style with numbered citations in square brackets. References must be numbered in order of appearance, list all authors unless there are more than six in which case the first three are followed by et al., and journal titles must be abbreviated according to Index Medicus.
Figures & Tables
Figures must be submitted as separate files, while the manuscript must contain the Tables, Legends to figures, and Figures sections. Original Articles must include tables with table legends, figures with figure legends, and a graphical abstract illustrating the main result of the study.
