Submission Instructions

Neurology Clinical Practice accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Research Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required for Research Articles. The cover letter must include the manuscript title, manuscript classification, study type with the required reporting guideline, and an indication of whether the submission is a null hypothesis study.
Abstract A structured abstract is required for Research Articles. The abstract must not exceed 350 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must include the headings Background and Objectives, Methods, Results, and Discussion, with Trial Registration Information included for clinical trials when applicable.
Manuscript The manuscript must not exceed 4,500 words excluding the abstract, tables, figure legends, appendices, and references. The manuscript must be organized into Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion sections, and the Methods section must include a subsection titled “Standard Protocol Approvals, Registrations, and Patient Consents.” Research Articles require a data availability statement, and Neurology Clinical Practice Research Articles must include 3-5 take-home points for a Summary Box and a Classification of Evidence statement for specified study types.
References The manuscript must not exceed 50 references. References must follow AMA Manual of Style formatting. Citations must appear in superscript numerical order in the text, and the reference list must correspond to those citation numbers in numerical order.
Figures & Tables Research Articles must not exceed 7 figures or tables. Tables and figure titles and legends must be placed at the end of the manuscript. Figures and tables must be numbered in the order they are mentioned in the text.

Abstract An abstract is required for Reviews. The abstract must not exceed 350 words. Reviews in Neurology Clinical Practice must use a structured abstract. The structured abstract must use the headings Purpose of Review, Recent Findings, and Summary.
Manuscript Reviews must not exceed 5,000 words. Reviews in Neurology Clinical Practice must include a Methods section, if applicable.
