Neuroscience Bulletin is a peer reviewed, monthly publication that aims to disseminate research fronts in neuroscience and promote academic exchange within the community. It covers a wide range of topics in neuroscience, focuses on potential disease implications on the nervous system, welcomes research contributions on molecular, cellular, developmental, systems and cognitive neuroscience using multidisciplinary approaches and functional strategies, and is the official publication of the Chinese Neuroscience Society.

Submission Instructions

Neuroscience Bulletin accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Original Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must specify the article type.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 150 words. Abstract must be unstructured as a single paragraph.
Manuscript Main text must be at least 5,000 words excluding references and must not exceed 80,000 characters including spaces, references, and figure legends but excluding supplemental data. Manuscript should include a succinct Introduction without subheadings, a Materials and Methods section, Results with subheadings, and Acknowledgements at the end of the text. Manuscript must include 3 to 8 keywords, a competing interests section, and documentation of any large language model use in the Methods section or a suitable alternative section.
References References are limited to 100. References must be cited as superscript Arabic numerals numbered consecutively in order of appearance, with journal titles abbreviated according to Index Medicus and all authors listed up to six before using et al. for more than six authors.
Figures & Tables Original Articles must include at least 6 and no more than 8 figures and/or tables in total. Figures should be submitted within the body of the text, with large figures submitted separately only if file size causes upload problems. Figures and tables must be numbered in Arabic numerals and cited in consecutive numerical order, each table must have a caption, and each figure must have a concise caption included in the manuscript text file.

Manuscript Review articles are usually 5,000 to 8,000 words in length, including the abstract and excluding the reference list and title. Review articles require a disclosure statement and must include 3 to 8 keywords separated by semicolons.
References References must be cited as superscript numbers and numbered consecutively in order of appearance, with journal titles abbreviated according to Index Medicus and all authors listed up to six before using et al. for more than six.
Figures & Tables Review articles should include 3 to 6 schematic illustrations. Figures should be submitted within the body of the text, with large figures submitted separately only if file size causes upload problems. Each figure must have a concise caption in the manuscript text file, and each table must have a caption explaining its components.

Abstract An abstract is not required.
Manuscript Manuscript total word count must not exceed 2,500 words. No specific subsections are required, and a Materials and Methods section is not required. Technical information considered important should be submitted as supplementary materials.
References References are limited to 15. References must be cited as superscript numbers, numbered consecutively in order of appearance, use Index Medicus journal abbreviations, and list all authors up to six followed by et al. for more than six.
Figures & Tables Display items are limited to 2. Figures should be submitted within the body of the text, with large figures submitted separately only if file size causes upload problems.
