Original Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required for first submission. Cover letter for first submission must briefly explain the importance of the data, verify that the paper is original unpublished research, explain why no reporting checklist applies if none is applicable, include preprint details if relevant, and confirm willingness to share the study protocol, statistical code, and derived data set.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must be 200 words or less. Abstract must be structured with no text before the Objective heading. Abstract headings must be Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Original Article must not exceed 4000 words excluding cover page, abstract, references, tables, and figures. Main text must use the headings Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion, with Acknowledgments included if needed. Following the Title Page, include no more than two short bullet-point answers to each of three study importance questions, include a disclosure statement on the Title Page, describe any AI use in the Acknowledgements or Methods section, and include clinical trial registration information on the Title Page and a data sharing statement in the Acknowledgments section for clinical trial reports.
References Original Article must not exceed 45 references. References must be cited numerically in the order of appearance using Arabic numerals. Reference list must name all authors unless there are more than six, in which case list the first three followed by et al., and journal titles must be abbreviated according to National Library of Medicine style.
Figures & Tables Original Article must not exceed 8 combined figures and tables. Figures must be uploaded as separate files and not included in the Main Document, while tables may be placed at the end of the Main Document or uploaded separately but not both. Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals, each cited in the text in order, and a separate list of figure captions must be provided at the end of the Main Document.

Review

Cover Letter Cover letter is required, and unsolicited Reviews may initially be submitted as a Review Proposal consisting of only a cover letter, title page, study importance questions, and abstract. Cover letter must justify why a new review or meta-analysis is needed in light of existing publications, specify how many studies are included, include a short explanation of the paper’s importance, verify that the paper is original and unpublished, and give preprint details or explain why no reporting checklist applies when applicable.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must be 200 words or less. Abstract must be structured with no text before the Objective heading. Abstract must use the headings Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 6000 words. Manuscript must use the main headings Introduction, titled text subsections, Discussion and/or Conclusion, Acknowledgments if needed, and References. Following the Title Page, the manuscript must provide no more than two short bullet-point answers to each of three study importance questions addressing prior major reviews, the manuscript’s new findings, and how the results may change research direction or clinical practice, and any use of AI tools must be disclosed in the Acknowledgements or Methods section.
References Reference list must not exceed 100 references. References must be cited numerically in order of appearance using Arabic numerals, consistent with a Vancouver-style system. Reference list must list all authors unless there are more than six, in which case list the first three followed by et al., and journal titles must be abbreviated according to National Library of Medicine style.
Figures & Tables Manuscript must not exceed a total of 8 tables and/or figures. Figures must be uploaded as separate files and not included in the Main Document, while tables may be placed at the end of the Main Document or uploaded separately, but not both. Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively with Arabic numbers, clearly labeled and cited in text order, and a separate list of figure captions must be provided.
