Occupational & Environmental Medicine (OEM) is an international peer-reviewed journal covering workplace hazards and environmental contaminants and their health effects, including chemical, physical, ergonomic, biological and psychosocial exposures. It is the official journal of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians of London, the Australian and New Zealand Society of Occupational Medicine, and the Scientific Committee on Epidemiology in Occupational Health.

Original Research

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Original Research must include a structured abstract. The abstract must be no more than 250 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript The manuscript must be up to 3,500 words, excluding the title page, abstract, tables, acknowledgements, contributions, and references. The manuscript should be ordered as abstract, key messages, main text under appropriate headings and subheadings, tables, acknowledgments and other required statements, and references. A distinct key messages section must appear after the abstract using the headings 'What is already known on this topic', 'What this study adds', and 'How this study might affect research, practice or policy' in no more than 3–5 sentences.
References The manuscript may include up to 40 references. References must follow BMJ reference style using Vancouver style. References must be cited in numerical order in the text and reference list, listing the first three authors by surname and initials followed by et al when applicable.
Figures & Tables The manuscript may include up to 5 tables and/or illustrations. Tables should be placed in the main text where first cited, while figures must be uploaded as separate files. Tables and figures must be cited in numerical order, and figure legends must be provided at the end of the manuscript.
