Osteoporosis International is a multidisciplinary journal focusing on the diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and management of osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases. It is a joint initiative of the International Osteoporosis Foundation and Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation and publishes studies providing broad insight on metabolic bone diseases across multiple populations.

Original Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Original Articles must include an abstract. The abstract must not exceed 250 words, and a mini abstract of no more than 50 words is also required. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Purpose, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
Manuscript The manuscript must not exceed 5000 words. The manuscript must include the sections Introduction, Purpose, Methods, Results, Conclusion, and References. The manuscript must include a mini abstract of no more than 50 words and 4 to 6 keywords.
References The manuscript may include no more than 45 references. References must be cited in the text using numbers in square brackets and listed consecutively in numbered order, with all authors ideally named or the first three followed by et al. when there are more than six authors.
Figures & Tables The manuscript may include no more than 6 figures or tables. Figures must be submitted in the text where they appear unless size limitations make this impossible, and each table must be submitted on a separate page in the text where it is intended to appear. Tables must be submitted as editable text and each table must have a title, and all figures must be numbered consecutively and have descriptive captions.
