Pathology is the official journal of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA). It publishes peer-reviewed original articles related to the science of pathology in its broadest sense, including anatomical pathology, chemical pathology, cytopathology, forensic pathology, genetic pathology, haematology, immunology, microbiology, and molecular pathology. In addition to original articles, it publishes Reviews, Rapid Communications and Correspondence.

Original Research Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract A concise and factual abstract is required. The abstract should be unstructured.
Manuscript Articles must be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections. The manuscript must include a declaration of interest statement and authors must declare the use of generative AI tools in the manuscript preparation process upon submission.
References References must use consecutive Arabic numbers in superscript form, consistent with Vancouver style. Full references must be listed sequentially in the order first mentioned in the text, with only the first three authors given before et al. and journal names abbreviated according to Index Medicus.
Figures & Tables Tables can be placed next to the relevant text in the article or on separate pages at the end, while each illustration must be submitted as a separate file and captions provided separately. Tables must be submitted as editable text rather than images.
