Phytomedicine is the International Journal of Phytotherapy and Phytopharmacology, published in affiliation with the European Scientific Cooperative On Phytotherapy (ESCOP). It is a therapy-oriented journal focused on efficacy, safety, quality, mechanisms of action, and standardization of specified plant extracts, phytopharmaceuticals, and isolated constituents, including clinical, pharmacological, pharmacokinetic, and toxicological studies of herbal medicinal products and related compounds.

Original Papers

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background, Purpose, Study Design, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
Manuscript Original Papers should not exceed 5,000 words including references, tables, and figures. Include 1 to 7 keywords, 3 to 5 highlights submitted as a separate editable file, a graphical abstract submitted as a separate file, and a generative AI declaration in a new section before the references if AI was used in manuscript preparation.
References Original Papers should not exceed 30 references. References must use Harvard style. References must be arranged alphabetically without numbering, use abbreviated journal titles, and in-text citations for works with three or more authors must use the first author's last name followed by et al. and the year.
Figures & Tables Tables and figures must be uploaded as separate files and placed at the end of the manuscript rather than embedded in the text. Tables must be editable text with captions, and figures must be submitted separately with captions or legends provided on a separate page.
