Original Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Use of AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process should be disclosed in the cover letter accompanying the submitted manuscript.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Structured. Background, Aims, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Original Articles are limited to 4000 words excluding abstract, including references, tables, and figure legends. Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion. Original Articles should include three to five key words in alphabetical order and a statistical analysis subsection at the end of the Methods section.
References Up to 30 references. Modified Vancouver style. References should be numbered in the order they are first mentioned, cited with Arabic numerals in square brackets, and list the first 3 authors followed by et al.
Figures & Tables Original Articles may include up to eight figures or tables. Tables should be included in the manuscript file, figures should be submitted as separate files, and the graphical abstract must be included as a figure in the PDF at submission. Figures and tables should be numbered in sequence, and the graphical abstract should have one panel and use Calibri 18 font.

Reviews

Cover Letter A cover letter is required for submission. The cover letter must disclose the use of AI or AI-assisted technologies in writing and include presubmission enquiry materials for Reviews, namely the manuscript title, an abstract, and a publication list for each author.
Abstract An abstract is required. The abstract must not exceed 250 words. The abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Reviews must not exceed 5000 words excluding the abstract and references but including tables and figure legends. The manuscript should contain a title page, abstract, up to 5 key words, main text, acknowledgments if applicable, tables, and figure legends in that order. Reviews may include up to 5 key words, and the manuscript should include an AI disclosure in the cover letter rather than in the manuscript.
References Reviews may include up to 100 references. Modified Vancouver style. References must be numbered in order of first appearance using Arabic numerals in square brackets, and the first three authors should be listed followed by et al.
Figures & Tables Reviews may include up to 10 figures or tables. Tables should be included in the manuscript file and figures should be submitted as separate files. Figures and tables must be referred to in order, tables should be fully editable, and reproduced material requires written permission and a source credit line.

Short Communications

Cover Letter Use of AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process should be disclosed in the cover letter.
Abstract An abstract must not be included.
Manuscript Short Communications should have no more than 1500 words including references. Short Communications should contain Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, preferably combined. Short Communications should not contain key words and should include a statistical analysis subsection at the end of the Methods section.
References Short Communications may include no more than 15 references. Vancouver References should be numbered in the order they are first mentioned in the text, cited by Arabic numerals in square brackets, and use modified Vancouver style with the first 3 authors listed followed by et al.
Figures & Tables Short Communications may include one figure or table. Tables should be included in the manuscript file and figures should be submitted as separate files. Figures and tables should be numbered in sequence, with only one figure or table allowed, and tables should be editable while figures should be high resolution.

Clinical Vignettes

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Use of AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process should be disclosed in the cover letter, and all conflict of interest information and funding information must also be declared during submission.
Abstract An abstract is not explicitly required for Clinical Vignettes.
Manuscript The main body of the manuscript must not exceed 500 words, excluding the title page, references, and figure legend. The manuscript should contain the title page, abstract if applicable, up to 5 key words if applicable, main text, acknowledgments if applicable, tables, and figure legends in that order. The manuscript must include a title page with the title, short title, authors, affiliations, corresponding author details, and conflict of interest statement, and up to 5 key words may be included if applicable.
References Clinical Vignettes may include up to 5 references. Modified Vancouver style. References must be numbered in order of first mention in the text using Arabic numerals in square brackets, and the first three authors should be listed followed by et al.
Figures & Tables Clinical Vignettes are limited to 1 figure for publication in print, with additional figures allowed only as online-only supplementary data. Figures should be submitted as separate files, while tables should be included in the manuscript file and placed at the end of the text on separate sheets. The figure may contain no more than six panels and arrows should be used where possible to illustrate abnormal findings.
