Public Health Nutrition

Public Health Nutrition is an international peer-reviewed journal published on behalf of The Nutrition Society that publishes original papers, review articles and policy relevant papers related to nutrition and public health. Its aim is to increase knowledge and understanding of the causes of diet related disease across the world and report insights to improve nutritional quality, food security and health. The journal publishes work from low-, middle- and high-income countries on nutritional epidemiology, behavioural nutrition related to healthy, affordable and sustainable diets, food environments and food systems, evaluation of nutrition interventions and policies, and topics interacting with nutrition and health such as food and planetary health and nutrition communication.

Research Article

Abstract A structured abstract is required for Research Articles. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured with a separate paragraph for each heading. Abstract must use the headings Objective, Design, Setting, Participants, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must be no more than 5000 words excluding the abstract, references, tables, figures and acknowledgements. Manuscript must include at least four keywords or phrases and must declare and describe any use of AI tools, with text-generation disclosures placed in a separate acknowledgments section or footnote, data-analysis use described in the methods section, and visual-content use stated in figure captions.
References Research Articles may include a maximum of 50 references. References must use the Vancouver system. References must be listed in numerical order, cited using superscript Arabic numerals in parentheses, reuse the same number for repeat citations, list only the first three authors followed by et al. when there are more than three authors, and use abbreviated journal titles.
Figures & Tables For original submissions, figures and tables may be kept in their original locations in the text, while full formatting requires figures as separate electronic files and tables at the end of the main manuscript file. Figure legends must be grouped at the end of the manuscript, tables and figures must be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals with captions, and each table and figure must be understandable without reference to the text.
