Systematic Review

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required for Systematic Reviews. Abstract must not exceed 180 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract headings must be Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Main text must not exceed 4,500 words excluding the abstract, reference list, and figure and table captions. Manuscript must be structured as Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion, with Methods including the systematic review protocol, search strategy, data sources, studies sections and data extraction, and analysis, and Discussion including a summary of main findings, limitations, and conclusions. Manuscript must include at least 5 keywords, funding information including a statement if no specific funding was provided, an Author Contributions statement, and acknowledgement of any generative AI use in the acknowledgements section and the methods section if applicable.
References In-text citations must use the Vancouver system. References must be numbered consecutively in order of appearance using Arabic numerals in parentheses, list the first six authors followed by et al., include the DOI when available, and include all and only items cited in the text, figures, or tables.
Figures & Tables Systematic Reviews may include up to 6 figures and tables in total. Figures and tables must not be inserted in the main text and figures must be uploaded as separate files, with only placeholders in the manuscript. Figure and table captions must be placed after the References section in the manuscript text.

Abstract An abstract is required for Review articles. The abstract must not exceed 180 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript The text body must not exceed 4,500 words excluding the abstract, reference list, and figure and table captions. The manuscript must be structured as Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, with the Discussion including limitations and conclusions. The manuscript must include at least 5 keywords, an Author Contributions statement, a funding section when applicable, acknowledgements of generative AI use when applicable, and a 200-word Contribution to the Field statement confirming the topic was not covered in a recently published review in this journal or other journals.
References In-text citations must use the Vancouver system. References must list the first six authors followed by et al. and include the DOI when available, and Review articles should reference all included studies.
Figures & Tables Reviews may include up to 6 figures and tables in total. What are the publication costs?

Article processing charges range from CHF 900 to CHF 1,980 depending on article type. Regular APCs are CHF 1,980 for Systematic Review, Review, and Guidance; CHF 1,400 for Mini Review and Policy Brief; and CHF 900 for Editorial, Commentary, Society Statement, and Letter to the Editor. Discounted APCs are available for Group A and Group B countries, and SSPH+ affiliates may receive a 50% APC discount for eligible 2026 submissions.
