Qualitative Research in Sport, Exercise and Health is an international journal dedicated to the advancement and debate of qualitative research within sport and exercise psychology, sport sociology, sports coaching, and sports and exercise medicine. It publishes original empirical work using qualitative approaches as well as qualitative meta-syntheses and review articles on the methods and methodologies of qualitative research.

Original Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract An abstract is required.
Manuscript The paper should typically be no more than 8000 words including the abstract, references, footnotes, and endnotes. The manuscript should be arranged as title page, abstract, keywords, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, acknowledgments, declaration of interest statement, references, appendices as appropriate, tables with captions, figures, and a list of figure captions. Include 2 to 10 keywords, a word count, a disclosure statement under the subheading “Disclosure of interest,” a statement disclosing whether and how generative AI was used or stating that it was not used, and a short biographical note for each author.
References References must use T&F standard APA style.
Figures & Tables Figures should be saved separately from the text.
