Respiratory Physiology & Neurobiology publishes original articles and invited reviews on the physiology and pathophysiology of respiration in its broadest sense, with special focus on neurobiology and additional coverage of respiratory molecular and cellular biology, mechanics of breathing, gas exchange, exercise respiration, unusual environmental conditions, developmental and comparative respiratory physiology, clinical aspects, original methods, and theoretical papers that advance understanding of respiratory physiology and pathophysiology.

Original Research Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be unstructured and concise enough to stand alone. Abstract must briefly state the purpose of the research, principal results, and major conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections. Manuscript must include 1 to 7 English keywords and, if generative AI was used in manuscript preparation, a declaration in a new section before the references list, while any AI used in the research design or methods must be described reproducibly in the methods section.
References References may be submitted in any consistent style or format. References must include author names, source title, article or chapter title where applicable, year, and volume, article number, or pagination where applicable, and every in-text citation must appear in the reference list and vice versa.
Figures & Tables Figures must be uploaded as separate files, while tables must be submitted as editable text. All figures and tables must be cited in the text, numbered consecutively, and provided with captions.
