Cover Letter A cover letter must be provided. The cover letter should indicate why the manuscript is suitable for publication and must disclose any writing or editing assistance from a third party or submission by someone not listed as an author, if applicable.

Abstract A structured abstract is required. The abstract must be no more than 300 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Background, Objectives, Design, Methods, Results, Conclusion, and Registration (if applicable).

Manuscript Original Articles are recommended to be up to 6000 words, excluding tables, figure legends and references. Manuscripts generally include an Abstract, Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgments, Statements and Declarations section, and References. The manuscript must include at least 2 keywords after the abstract, an Author Contributions heading after the Acknowledgements section, a Statements and Declarations section at the end of the article, and a statement in the methods identifying which reporting guidelines were consulted, while a plain language summary is optional.

References There is no limit on references. References must follow Sage Vancouver style. Every in-text citation must have a corresponding reference list entry and vice versa, with identical spelling and year in corresponding citations.

Figures & Tables There is no limit on figures and tables. Figures, charts, and tables created in Word should be included in the main text, while figures and other files created outside Word must be submitted separately with a placeholder note in the text for separately submitted figures. Tables must be editable Word tables rather than images and figures must be numbered consecutively in the order they appear in the text.
