Original Research

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. If the manuscript varies from the required format, the cover letter must explain the rationale for the change.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Preferred abstract headings are Rationale, Objectives, Methods, Measurements and Main Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Text must not exceed 5,000 words, and the Materials and methods section should not exceed 500 words. First-level section headers must be Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, and Discussion, and Results and Discussion may not be combined. The title page must include a 2-3 sentence Clinical Relevance section, an Author contributions section, and a statement declaring whether an AI tool was used and, if so, describing the use.
References References are limited to 50. References must follow AMA style with a numerical citation system. References must be numbered in order of appearance in the text and listed numerically, with up to six authors named before using et al.
Figures & Tables No more than 7 figures or tables may be included. Tables must be placed at the end of the main text, while figures and their captions must be embedded in the text in numerical order and also submitted as individual files. Tables must be numbered and cited in chronological order and include a caption or title, and all figures must include alt text in the main manuscript file directly under the relevant figure legend.
