Annual Review Of Immunology is an invitation-only journal. Submissions are accepted by invitation from the editorial board only. The following article types are accepted:

Review Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 150 words.
Manuscript Manuscript length must follow the guidelines in the invitation letter. Review Articles should present current understanding of the topic, place it in historical context, identify remaining major questions and likely future research directions, and outline practical applications and broader societal significance. Manuscript may include up to 6 keywords, up to 8 Summary Points, up to 8 Future Issues, up to 20 Terms and Definitions entries, up to 10 reference annotations, up to 10 Related Resources items, and AI use must be disclosed in the Acknowledgments and where pertinent in the article.
References References must be listed and numbered in order of appearance, include article or chapter titles, use the first author's surname followed by et al. for in-text citations with three or more authors, and all cited references must exist and be cited in the text, figure captions, or tables.
Figures & Tables Figures must be submitted as separate files rather than embedded in the text, and tables must be placed at the end of the article after the Literature Cited section or submitted together in a separate editable file. Each figure must have a clearly labeled descriptive caption, be numbered consecutively and called out in the text, and reused figures in Review Articles require permission before submission with source credit in the caption.
