Asian Journal of Surgery is the official peer-reviewed open access journal of the Asian Surgical Association, the Taiwan Robotic Surgery Association, and the Taiwan Society of Coloproctology. It was launched in 1978, is published monthly by Elsevier, and is indexed in SCIE, ScienceDirect, Scopus, Embase, Current Contents, Current Abstracts, BioEngineering Abstracts, SIIC Data Bases, CAB Abstracts, and CAB Health. The journal publishes original articles, review articles, and case reports in surgery and related disciplines across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

Review Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. It must include the corresponding author's name, address, telephone and fax numbers, and email address, and it must be signed by the corresponding author.
Abstract An abstract is required. Up to 250 words. Unstructured.
Manuscript No more than 4000 words. Review Articles must be divided into logical sections with appropriate headings. The manuscript must include 3–5 keywords in alphabetical order.
References 100 references or fewer. References must be numbered consecutively in order of appearance and listed in numerical order, with up to 6 authors listed in full and 7 or more authors listed as the first 3 authors followed by et al.
Figures & Tables Tables and figures must be submitted as separate editable or picture files rather than embedded in the manuscript. Tables must be editable text with captions and cited in the manuscript, and figures must be cited in the text, numbered in order, supplied as separate files, and accompanied by captions.

Original Articles

References The manuscript must include 80 references or fewer. Vancouver. References and in-text citations must be numbered consecutively in order of appearance using superscripted numbers and listed in numerical order.
Figures & Tables Tables must be submitted as editable text, figures must be supplied as separate files, and tables, figures, and legends must be cited in the manuscript text. Tables must be numbered consecutively, include captions, and avoid vertical rules and shading, while figures must be numbered in order of appearance and supplied as separate logical files.

Case Reports

Abstract An abstract is required. The abstract must not exceed 250 words. The abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript The manuscript must not exceed 1000 words. Case Reports must use the section headings Abstract, Introduction, Case Report, Discussion, Acknowledgments, Conflicts of Interest, and References, and each section should begin on a new page. Manuscripts must include 3–5 keywords in alphabetical order, and a CARE checklist must be provided at submission.
References Case Reports must include 30 references or fewer. Vancouver. References must be numbered consecutively in the order cited, listed in numerical order, and formatted with authors' surnames and initials, article title, abbreviated journal name, year, volume, and inclusive page numbers.
Figures & Tables Case Reports may include up to 5 figures. Figures and tables must be uploaded separately from the manuscript, and tables must be submitted as editable text. All figures and tables must be cited in the text, figures must be numbered in order of appearance, tables must be numbered consecutively and include captions, and tables must not use vertical rules or shading.

Letters To The Editor

Abstract Abstract requirements are not specified.
Manuscript Letters to the Editor must not exceed 800 words. The manuscript should be prepared as a Letter to the Editor in a Word document using the file type "Manuscript file [Letter to the Editor]". The manuscript may include no more than 4 authors, no more than 1 table or figure, and an authorship and conflicts of interest statement.
References Letters to the Editor must include 5 references or fewer. Vancouver. References must be cited with superscripted numbers in order of appearance and listed in numerical order, with all authors listed for up to 6 authors and the first 3 authors followed by et al for 7 or more authors.
Figures & Tables Letters to the Editor may include a maximum of 1 table or figure. Figures and tables must be supplied separately from the manuscript as editable text or separate picture files, and all must be cited in the manuscript text. Tables must be editable text with captions, figures must be numbered in order of appearance and submitted as separate files, and no more than one table or figure is allowed.
