Manuscripts
Cover Letter
Cover letter is required for all new or transferred submissions. The cover letter must justify deletion of any required abstract section.
Abstract
A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must follow a structured format with 7 sections. Abstract must contain 7 sections.
Manuscript
Manuscript must include a title page and a structured abstract submitted on a separate page in the manuscript file, and the discussion must be the final section with no separate conclusion section. If generative AI or AI-assisted technologies are used in the writing process, a statement must be added at the end of the core manuscript file before the references under a section titled “Declaration of Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process.”
References
References must be in AMA style. References must be cited in the text using consecutive superscript Arabic numerals and listed in numbered order of first appearance.
Figures & Tables
Figures and tables must not be embedded in the manuscript and must be submitted as separate files, with figures as separate TIFF or EPS files and tables as separate Word files. Tables must be titled and numbered consecutively, include a heading for each column, and include titles, a brief description, and footnotes.
Systematic Review
Cover Letter
Cover letters are required for new or transferred submissions. Cover letter must state whether reporting guidelines were followed and which ones, and whether the exact full search strategy for at least one database is presented in an appendix with enough detail to permit replication.
Abstract
An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must follow the journal’s structured format. Abstract must include a Results section and include the review registration number.
Manuscript
Text must use standard journal formatting divided into four distinct sections with an unlabeled Introduction, and the Methods section must include the subheadings “Eligibility criteria for considering studies for this review,” “Search methods for identifying studies,” “Study selection,” “Data collection and risk of bias assessment,” and “Data synthesis and analysis.” Manuscript must include a title page, a 35-word-or-fewer précis indicating a new insight or principal controversy, and an AI-use declaration section before the references if generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in writing.

References must be in AMA style. References must be cited in the text using consecutive superscript Arabic numerals and numbered in the reference list in order of appearance.
Figures & Tables
Figures and tables must not be embedded in the manuscript and must be uploaded as separate files, with one table per Word file. Tables must be titled and numbered consecutively, and the Results section must report study flow counts and reasons for exclusion at each stage, ideally with a flow diagram.

Cover page must note that the submission is derived from an Annual Meeting paper or poster. A declaration of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process must be included at the end of the core manuscript file before the references if such technologies were used.

Abstract
An abstract is required. The abstract must use a structured format.
Manuscript
Correspondence is limited to 700 words. Correspondence must be double-spaced, begin with “To the Editor,” use the title format “Re: [last name of first author of published article] et al.: [title of the published article to which the Correspondence refers],” reference the commented article in the first paragraph, and end with each author’s name, degree, and location. Correspondence should address no more than three points, and if generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in writing, a declaration section must be added before the references.
References
Correspondence may include no more than 5 references, including the article to which the authors are responding. References must be in AMA style. The article being commented on must be the first listed reference, references must be cited in the text with consecutive superscript Arabic numerals, and the reference list must be numbered in order of appearance.
Figures & Tables
Figures, tables, or graphs are typically not included. Figures and tables must not be embedded in the manuscript and must be uploaded as separate files.

Cover Letter
Cover letter is required. Cover letter must include the manuscript number of the original submission and a point-by-point response to the original reviewers' questions and suggestions.
Abstract
A 35-word unstructured abstract is required for editors’ and reviewers’ view only and will not be published with the report. Abstract must not exceed 35 words. Abstract must be unstructured. No abstract headings are specified.
