JTO Clinical and Research Reports is the official open access journal of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. It complements the Journal of Thoracic Oncology by offering a gold open access publication option and particularly publishes Phase I trials, well performed single-arm phase II trials, subset analyses of published trials, impactful retrospective studies, database analysis, large institutional series, high-quality case reports, region-specific clinical trials, subspecialty thoracic oncology studies, and selected high-quality meeting reports.

Original Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Original Articles must include a structured abstract. The abstract must not exceed 250 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Introduction or Hypothesis, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript The manuscript must contain 4,000 words of text. The manuscript must be organized under the headings Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion. The manuscript must include three to five keywords and, if generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in writing, a disclosure statement before the references under the heading 'Declaration of Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process'.
References The manuscript may include up to 50 references. References must be cited with consecutive superscript Arabic numerals and listed in numbered order of appearance. Journal names in references must be abbreviated according to the List of Title Word Abbreviations.
Figures & Tables The manuscript may include up to 6 tables and/or figures. Figures must be submitted as separate files with captions provided separately, and tables must be submitted as editable text. Figures and tables must be numbered consecutively in the order they are cited in the text.

Abstract Abstract is required and may be structured or unstructured. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract may be structured or unstructured. Abstract must include an introduction on what is unique about the case and its contribution to the literature, the patient's main concerns and important clinical findings, the primary diagnoses interventions and outcomes, and a conclusion with one or more take-away lessons.
Manuscript Manuscript must be 1000 words or less. Manuscript must include Introduction, Case Presentation, Discussion, and Conclusion sections. Manuscript must include 2 to 5 keywords including "case report," a conflict of interest disclosure statement, a short acknowledgement section mentioning funding support if applicable, a timeline figure or table, and de-identified patient-specific case details covering history, findings, diagnostics, interventions, outcomes, follow-up, adherence or tolerability, adverse events, and discussion of strengths, limitations, relevant literature, and rationale for conclusions.
References References must not exceed 5. References must be cited in the text using consecutive superscript Arabic numerals and listed in numbered order of appearance.
Figures & Tables Figures and tables may total no more than 3. Each illustration must be submitted as a separate file and captions for illustrations must be provided separately.
