Biosafety and Health is an open access, peer-reviewed journal sponsored by the Chinese Medical Association and managed by the National Institute for Viral Disease Control and Prevention, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention. It publishes bimonthly in English and focuses on original research and perspectives related to public health and biosafety, including biological threats, transmission and evolution of biological agents, surveillance, risk assessment, prevention, therapeutics, synthetic biotechnology, biosafety materials, and policies and standards.

Original Research

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required for Original Research. Abstract must be unstructured and must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 3,000 words excluding the abstract and references and may be up to 12 printed pages. Materials and Methods must be provided in the supplementary materials. Highlights are mandatory and must be provided as a Word document containing four parts: Scientific questions, Evidence before this study, New findings, and Significance of the study, and a generative AI declaration must appear in a new section before the references if AI tools were used in manuscript preparation.
References Reference list must contain no more than 40 references. References must be cited as numbers in square brackets and numbered in the order of first appearance in the article.
Figures & Tables Original Research must include no more than 10 figures or tables. Figures must be uploaded as separate files, while tables must be included as editable text rather than images. All figures and tables must be cited in the text, numbered consecutively, and provided with captions.
