BMC Public Health is an open access, peer-reviewed journal publishing research in all aspects of public health, including the social determinants of health, the environmental, behavioral, and occupational correlates of health and disease, and the impact of health policies, practices and interventions on the community. The journal welcomes submissions addressing a wide spectrum of global health challenges and highlights research related to health and well-being, education, gender equality, clean environments, poverty reduction, and social justice.

Research Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must explain why the manuscript should be published in BMC Public Health, address any issues relating to journal policies, declare any potential competing interests, confirm all authors approved the submission, and confirm the content has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions, and articles reporting health care interventions on human participants must also include a Trial registration section with registration number and date, adding 'retrospectively registered' when applicable.
Manuscript Manuscript must include a title page, three to ten keywords, and the sections Background, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, and Declarations. The manuscript must include a Declarations section with the subheadings Ethics approval and consent to participate, Consent for publication, Availability of data and materials, Competing interests, Funding, Authors' contributions, Acknowledgements, and Authors' information, using 'Not applicable' for any irrelevant declaration, and any use of a Large Language Model must be documented in the Methods section or a suitable alternative section.
References References must follow Vancouver reference style. Web links and URLs must be assigned a reference number and included in the reference list rather than in the text, and unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must not appear in the reference list.
Figures & Tables Figure titles and legends must be provided in the main manuscript rather than in the graphic file, tables shorter than one page may be placed within the manuscript, and tables longer than one page may be placed at the end of the document. Figures must be numbered in the order first mentioned in the text and multi-panel figures submitted as a single composite file, while tables must be numbered and cited in sequence and created using the word processor's table function rather than embedded as figures or spreadsheet files.

Manuscript Review articles must include Background, Main text, Conclusions, and a Declarations section with the required subheadings. Review articles must include three to ten keywords, define abbreviations at first use and list them if used, include an Availability of data and materials statement, and write 'Not applicable' for any Declarations subsection that is not relevant.
References References must follow Vancouver style. Web links and URLs must be cited with a reference number and included in the reference list in full with the site title, URL, and access date, and unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must not appear in the reference list.
Figures & Tables Tables shorter than one page may be placed within the manuscript, larger tables may be placed at the end of the text file, and figure titles and legends must be provided in the main manuscript while figures are uploaded separately. Tables must not be embedded as figures or spreadsheet files, and footnotes must not contain figures or tables.
