Cancer Communications accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Original Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required for submission. Cover letter must include the paper title, a brief summary of the main point, a statement that the material has not been published or submitted elsewhere, confirmation that all authors have reviewed and agree to the publication ethics policies, names email addresses and ORCID IDs for all authors with one corresponding author identified, and any use of AI-assisted technologies should be noted.
Abstract Original Articles must include an abstract. Abstract must be no more than 350 words.
Manuscript Original Articles are encouraged to be no more than 15,000 words. Original Articles must include an introduction and sections with brief informative subheadings. Use of AI-assisted technologies in the research study or in the writing or presentation of the manuscript should be disclosed in the acknowledgments section.
References Original Articles are encouraged to include no more than 50 references. References may be submitted in any style, though Chicago style is preferred. References must list all authors by first initial(s) and last name, be numbered consecutively in order of first citation, be cited in the text with numbers in square brackets, and all references must be cited in the text.
Figures & Tables Original Articles are encouraged to include no more than 10 figures and/or tables. A single submission file may contain text references figures and tables, or the manuscript may be uploaded as one text file plus separate figure files. Figures and tables must be cited consecutively in the text, every table must have a descriptive title, and the figure identifying number must appear on the same manuscript page as the figure.

Reviews

Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must be no more than 350 words. Abstract structure is not specified. No mandatory abstract headings are specified.
Manuscript Reviews should be approximately 3,000 words. Manuscript must include an introduction outlining the main theme, brief subheadings, and an outline of important unresolved questions. Manuscript acknowledgments must note any AI-assisted technologies used in the research, writing, or presentation.
References References may be submitted in any style, though Chicago style is preferred. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first citation, cited in the text using numbers in square brackets, include all authors by first initials and last name without using et al. for omitted authors, and include DOIs when available.
Figures & Tables A single submission file may contain figures and tables, or they may be uploaded separately as one text file plus separate figure files. Figures and tables must be cited consecutively in the text, every table must have a descriptive title, and the figure identifying number must appear on the same manuscript page as the figure.

Letters

Abstract Letters must not have an abstract.
Manuscript Letters must be no more than 1,200 words excluding references, tables, and figures. Letters must not have subsections such as Introduction, Results, or Discussion. Materials and Methods information should be submitted as supplementary materials when it is important to the study, and any AI-assisted technologies used in the research, writing, or presentation should be noted in the acknowledgments.
References Letters should have 10 references. References may be submitted in any style, though Chicago style is preferred. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first citation, cited in the text with numbers in square brackets, include all authors by initials and last names without using et al. for author lists, and include DOIs when available.
Figures & Tables Letters should have no more than 1 figure or table. Initial submission may be uploaded as a single file containing text, references, figures, legends, tables, and supplementary materials, or as one text file with separate figure and supplementary files. All figures must be cited consecutively in the manuscript, tables must be cited consecutively in the text and have descriptive titles, and figures embedded in Microsoft Word files are not accepted.

Figures & Tables Initial submission may be uploaded as a single file containing text, references, figures and legends, tables and legends, and supplementary materials, or as one text file with separate figure and supplementary files. Figures and tables must be cited consecutively in the manuscript, every table must have a descriptive title, and numerical measurement units in tables must appear in the column headings.
