Child and Adolescent Mental Health publishes research relevant to academics, clinicians, and commissioners internationally. Its principal aim is to foster evidence-based clinical practice and clinically orientated research among clinicians and health services researchers working with children and adolescents, parents, and their families in relation to mental health. The journal publishes reviews, original articles, and pilot reports of innovative approaches, interventions, clinical methods, and service developments.

Original Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract headings must be Background, Method, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must be no more than 5,000 words including tables, figures, and related captions, excluding references. Original Articles must be set out in the conventional format of Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion. Manuscript must include 1-2 bullet points under the questions What is known?, What is new?, and What is significant for clinical practice?, provide 4-6 keywords, include a word count, include an Acknowledgement section before the references, and disclose use of AI Technologies when applicable.
References References must follow a slightly adapted version of APA Style. In-text citations must use author name and date, list all surnames for up to three authors on first citation, use et al. thereafter or for more than three authors, and provide a full alphabetical reference list with unabbreviated journal titles.
Figures & Tables Tables must appear at the end of the main text with their intended positions indicated, and figure titles or captions must appear at the end of the main text. Tables should be kept to a minimum and not duplicate the text, and tables should be clearly set out and numbered.
