Abstract A structured abstract is required for Original Research. Abstract must not exceed 300 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 6,000 words including the title page, abstract, references, tables, and figure legends. Manuscript must be assembled in the order Title Page, Abstract, Text (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion), Acknowledgments, Sources of Funding, Disclosures, References, Figure Legends, Tables, and Figures. Manuscript should include a one-paragraph Clinical Perspective of no more than 250 words placed immediately after the Abstract and before the Introduction with no reference list, and should also include a Graphic Abstract.
References References are limited to a maximum of 50. References must use a numbered endnote style. References must be cited in numerical order according to first mention in the text and must list the first 10 author names followed by "et al.".
Figures & Tables The combined total number of figures and tables must not exceed 8. Original Research submissions must provide review files either as a full manuscript PDF or as separate files consisting of a manuscript text file, figures, and supplemental material. Figures and tables must be cited in numerical order according to first mention in the text.
