Submission Instructions

Current Opinion In Virology is an invitation-only journal. Submissions are accepted by invitation from the editorial board only. The following article types are accepted:

Review Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required with the submission. Cover letter should briefly state the study aim and main findings, explain fit with the journal’s scope, emphasize novelty and broader implications, and acknowledge if the submission was invited.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be concise, factual, and unstructured.
Manuscript Review Article text must not exceed 2000 words excluding the abstract, references, and figure captions. Manuscript must be divided into clearly defined sections using headings and the reference section must use the heading "References and recommended reading." Manuscript must include 1 to 7 English keywords, include the statement "Papers of particular interest, published within the period of review, have been highlighted as: * of special interest ** of outstanding interest" under the reference section, and include any (*) or (**) annotations only in the reference list.
References Review Articles should include approximately 50 references, with self-citations not exceeding 20% of the total and at least 10% selected and annotated as papers of special interest (*) or outstanding interest (**). References must be cited by number in square brackets. References must be numbered in order of first citation, all references must be cited in the text and listed in the reference list, journal names must be abbreviated according to LTWA, and annotated (*) or (**) references must be from the past 2 years with brief descriptions of their major findings and importance.
Figures & Tables Review Articles must include no more than 4 tables or figures in total and must include at least one figure summarizing the main concepts discussed. Figures must be supplied as separate files and tables must be submitted as editable text. All figures and tables must be cited in the text, numbered consecutively, and accompanied by captions.
