Original Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Original Articles must include a structured abstract of fewer than 250 words. Abstract must be fewer than 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusion, include three to ten MeSH keywords at the end, and provide the clinical trial registration number at the end of the abstract.
Manuscript Main text must not exceed 4,000 words excluding the abstract, references, tables, and figure legends. Manuscript must be organized as title page, abstract with keywords, main text with Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion, conflicts of interest, funding information, acknowledgments, references, tables, and figure legends. Manuscript must specify each author's contribution in CRediT format, include funding and sponsor role statements, include acknowledgments or write "None," and graphical abstracts and highlights are required upon acceptance with up to five bullet points of no more than 85 characters each.
References Original Articles must include no more than 50 references. References must follow Citing Medicine/National Library of Medicine style with journal titles abbreviated according to Medline. References must be listed in the order cited with citation numbers in chronological order in square brackets, and references with more than six authors should list the first six followed by "et al.".
Figures & Tables Original Articles may contain up to six tables or figures. Tables must be placed on separate pages at the end of the document, while figures must be submitted separately from the manuscript text. Tables and figures must be numbered in the order cited, table number, title, and legend must appear above each table, and multipanel figures must be labeled with letters such as Fig. 1A and Fig. 1B.
