Clinical Research Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is only specifically required when applying for Fast Track status and must explain the manuscript’s suitability for Fast Track.
Abstract A structured graphical abstract is required, consisting of text elements (Key Question, Key Finding, Take-home Message, up to 40 words each) plus a graphic element prepared to the journal’s specifications.
Manuscript Clinical Research Articles must not exceed 5,000 words, excluding the title, abstracts, legends, and references.
References References must follow Vancouver style, numbered in order of citation using Arabic numerals and listed with complete information and MEDLINE journal abbreviations where applicable; limit: 100 references.
Figures & Tables Any number of figures and tables is allowed, with no more than six panels per figure; supplementary material and videos are permitted.

Translational Science Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is only specifically required when applying for Fast Track status, where it must explain the manuscript’s suitability for Fast Track.
Abstract Translational Science Articles must also include a Translational Perspective of no more than 100 words, without references or abbreviations.
Manuscript Translational Science Articles must not exceed 5,000 words, excluding the title, abstracts, legends, and references.
References Translational Science Articles may include up to 100 references.
Figures & Tables Translational Science Articles may include any number of figures, tables, and videos, with no more than six panels per figure, as well as supplementary material.

State of the Art Review

Cover Letter No specific cover letter requirements are specified, including whether a cover letter is required.
Abstract A text abstract is required, unstructured, must not exceed 250 words, and must not contain references or abbreviations; a separate graphical abstract is also required.
Manuscript State of the Art Reviews must not exceed 5,000 words, excluding the title, abstracts, legends, and references, and must include a text abstract, graphical abstract, and up to six keywords, with no specific section structure otherwise specified.
References References must follow Vancouver style (numbered in order of citation with MEDLINE journal abbreviations) and are limited to a maximum of 150 references.
Figures & Tables Figures, tables, and supplementary files must be uploaded as separate files with approximate positions indicated in the manuscript; any number of figures, tables, and videos is allowed, with no more than six panels per figure.

Manuscript Editorials must not exceed 1,500 words, excluding the title, legends, and references, and must not have more than three authors; they must include a graphical abstract and must not include figures, tables, videos, keywords, or supplementary material.
References References must be formatted in Vancouver style, numbered in order of citation with Arabic numerals and MEDLINE journal abbreviations where applicable; limit: 15 references for Editorials.
