European Journal of Epidemiology, first published in 1985, is a peer-reviewed journal that serves as a forum for epidemiology in the broadest sense. It is dedicated to all fields of epidemiologic research and to epidemiologic and statistical methods, promoting communication among researchers, teachers, and practitioners in epidemiology, clinical medicine, community medicine, public health, preventive medicine, health economics, and computational biology and data science applied to health and disease. The journal publishes empirical research findings, methodological developments, and opinion articles from broad geographical origins, with some focus on European topics relevant to epidemiology.

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must be 150 to 250 words.
Manuscript Manuscript must include a 'Statements and Declarations' section after the References section. Manuscript must include 4 to 6 keywords, a disclosure statement, documentation of any LLM use in the Methods section or another suitable part of the manuscript, and Funding and Competing Interests statements in the 'Statements and Declarations' section, with the heading retained and marked 'Not applicable' if a declaration does not apply.
References Citations must be given as numbers in square brackets. Reference list entries must be numbered consecutively, include only works cited in the text that are published or accepted for publication, include full DOI links when available, and use standard ISSN title abbreviations or the full journal title if unsure.
Figures & Tables Figures should be submitted within the body of the text, with large figures submitted separately only if file size causes upload problems. Tables and figures must be numbered with Arabic numerals and cited in consecutive numerical order, each table must have a caption, and each figure must have a concise caption provided in the manuscript text file rather than in the figure file.
