It publishes rigorously peer-reviewed review articles and original papers, uses double-anonymous peer review after editorial suitability assessment, and does not publish case reports or case series.

Expert Opinion on Biological Therapy is an invitation-only journal. Submissions are accepted by invitation from the editorial board only. The following article types are accepted:

Review Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 200 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract headings must appear in this order: Introduction, Areas covered, and Expert Opinion/Commentary.
Manuscript The body of the article must not exceed 7000 words. Manuscript should include Introduction, body sections with numbered subsections, Conclusion placed before Expert Opinion, and an Expert Opinion section ending with a speculative five-year viewpoint. Manuscript must include an Article Highlights section, 4–10 keywords in alphabetical order, and an annotated bibliography using one- and two-star highlights with brief annotations.
References Review Articles should include around 100 references. References must follow NLM style. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first mention and presented in a numerical reference list with bracketed square-number citations.
Figures & Tables Review Articles may include up to 5 figures and up to 5 tables. Previously published figures require written permission and the permission documentation must be uploaded with the manuscript.

Original Research

Cover Letter Original Research submissions must include a covering letter. Cover letter must include the corresponding author’s full contact details, statements of originality and exclusive submission, confirmation that all authors approved the manuscript and met ICMJE conditions, the body granting ethical approval, any financial or other declarable relationships and support, and details of any prior abstract, poster, or oral presentation.
Abstract Original Research articles must include a structured abstract on the second page. Abstract must be no more than 200 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract headings are stated inconsistently as either Introduction, Areas covered, and Expert Opinion/Commentary or Background, Research design and methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript body must include introduction, patients and methods, results, discussion, and conclusions sections. Manuscript must include 4–6 keywords in alphabetical order, an acknowledgements section, an author contributions section, a disclosure of financial and competing interests, and a statement disclosing whether and how generative AI was used.
References References must use NLM style. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first mention and cited in the text as square-bracketed numbers, with the reference list presented in numerical order.
Figures & Tables A maximum of five tables is permitted. Tables must be supplied as editable files.
