Food and Chemical Toxicology is an international multidisciplinary toxicology journal affiliated with the Chinese Society of Toxicology. It publishes original research articles and reviews on toxic effects and toxic mechanisms of natural or synthetic chemicals occurring in food and the human environment, including drugs, consumer chemicals, agricultural products, industrial chemicals, novel foods, biotechnologically derived products, nanomaterials, nutrition-toxicology inter-relationships, and in vitro techniques that foster the 3 Rs.

Original Research Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must state that the manuscript is new and original and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Abstract An abstract is required. The abstract must not exceed 200 words. The abstract must be unstructured. The abstract must clearly and briefly identify the novel toxic effect(s) or toxic mechanism(s) being reported and their significance and should briefly state the purpose, principal results, and major conclusions.
Manuscript The manuscript must be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections. Authors must provide 1 to 7 keywords in English, complete the declarations tool, and add a generative AI declaration statement at the end of the manuscript before the references if such tools were used.
References References may be submitted in any consistent style, with in-text citations using author name and year. The reference list should be arranged alphabetically and then chronologically if necessary and include all cited works and only cited works.
Figures & Tables Tables must be placed next to the relevant text or on separate pages at the end of the article, while figures must be supplied as separate files along with the manuscript. Tables must be editable text with captions and all figures and tables must be cited and numbered consecutively in the manuscript text.
