Forensic Toxicology

Forensic Toxicology is a hybrid journal providing an international forum for publication of studies on toxic substances, drugs of abuse, doping agents, chemical warfare agents, and other compounds related to laws and ethics. It is the official publication of the Japanese Association of Forensic Toxicology. Its major focus is the development or improvement of analytical methods for these chemicals in human matrices, and appropriate studies with animal experiments are also published. Coverage includes original articles, reviews, mini-reviews, short communications, and case reports.

Research Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required only to mention any unpublished material included in the manuscript. Cover letter must mention any unpublished material included in the manuscript.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must be divided into Purpose, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Text should be divided into Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgements, Conflict of Interest, References, tables, and figure legends, and combined Results and discussion sections are not acceptable. Manuscript must include 4 to 6 keywords, a Declarations section before the reference list including Funding and/or Competing interests and other applicable declarations, a statement of responsibility specifying every author's contribution, and disclosure of large language model use in the Methods section or another suitable section if used.
References References must be numbered in the order in which they appear in the text. Only cited published or accepted works may appear in the reference list, references must be numbered by order of appearance, journal and book references must list all authors and core bibliographic details, and DOI should be included where available.
Figures & Tables Figures should be submitted within the body of the text unless file size causes upload problems, in which case large figures should be submitted separately, and figure captions must be included in the manuscript text file. Figures and tables must be numbered in Arabic numerals and cited in consecutive numerical order, each table must have a caption, and each figure must have a concise caption identifying its content and any reused material.
