Gut and Liver is an international journal of gastroenterology focusing on the gastrointestinal tract, liver, biliary tree, pancreas, motility, and neurogastroenterology. It publishes clinical and research-based papers in gastroenterology and hepatology, including original articles, brief communications, letters to the editor, perspectives, review articles, and case reports.

Original Articles

Cover Letter Cover letter is required. Cover letter must state that the material has not been published previously or submitted elsewhere, certify that all authors participated meaningfully and approved the final manuscript, and briefly explain each author's individual contributions.
Abstract Structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Background/Aims, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 3,500 words. Manuscript must include the sections Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion. Manuscript must include up to five MeSH keywords below the abstract and disclose any use of AI-assisted technologies in a dedicated Methods section or, if no Methods section exists, in the Acknowledgements.
References References must be cited in numerical order in the text using superscript numbers, list all authors when there are fewer than seven and the first three followed by "et al." when there are seven or more, and abbreviate journal titles according to Index Medicus.
Figures & Tables No more than 7 tables and no more than 7 figures may be presented. Each table must be prepared on a separate page, and figure legends must be provided on a separate sheet. Each figure must have a title.

Manuscript Main text must be limited to 1,500 words. A maximum of five MeSH keywords must appear below the abstract, and any use of AI-assisted technologies in manuscript preparation must be disclosed at submission and reported in the Methods section or Acknowledgements as applicable.
References References must not exceed 15. References must be numbered in order of citation using superscript numbers, list all authors when there are fewer than seven and the first three followed by et al. when there are seven or more, and use Index Medicus journal abbreviations.
Figures & Tables The combined total of tables and figures must not exceed two.
