Seminars in Liver Disease is a quarterly review journal in hepatology and gastroenterology. It publishes commissioned reviews and considers exceptional unsolicited reviews or remarkable original articles. Case reports are not published. The journal was established in 1981 and is indexed in major databases including MEDLINE, SCOPUS, and Web of Science indexes.

Long Review Article

Cover Letter Not stated. The cover letter must note use of a preprint repository if the manuscript is deposited in one.
Abstract Required. Fewer than 200 words. Unstructured.
Manuscript The manuscript must be organized in the order title page, abstract and keywords, lay summary, text, concluding remarks, acknowledgements, conflict of interest statement, figure captions, tables, and citations. The title page must include the article title, running title, and abstract word count.
References AMA. References must be cited sequentially, and all author names must be listed up to and including six names.
Figures & Tables Figures and tables must be cited sequentially and included in the main document, while art files and each figure must be saved separately. Tables must be created using the Table function in Microsoft Word and double-spaced, and figure captions must be written after the reference list.

Short Review Article

Cover Letter If the manuscript has been deposited in a preprint repository, the cover letter must note its use.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must be up to 150 words. The abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Short Review Articles must be up to 3600 words. Concluding Remarks must appear as the final component of the article. Short Review Articles must include 3 to 5 keywords.
References AMA References must be cited sequentially and must list all author names up to and including six names.
Figures & Tables Short Review Articles may include up to 2 figures and 1 table. Figures and tables must be included in the main document, while art files and each figure must be saved separately. Figures and tables must be cited sequentially, and data in tables must be commented on but not repeated in the text.

Cover Letter A cover letter is required for submission. It must note use of a preprint repository if applicable.
Abstract An abstract is required. Up to 150 words. Unstructured.
Manuscript Up to 6000 words. The article must include a Concluding Remarks section as the final component. Three to five keywords are required.
References AMA. References must be cited sequentially and list all author names up to and including six names.
Figures & Tables Up to 5 figures and 3 tables. Figures and tables must be cited sequentially and included in the main document. Tables must be double-spaced and numbered in the order cited, and figures and tables must be saved separately as art files.
