Original Paper

Cover Letter A cover letter should explain any requested exceptions to word/figure/reference limits, disclose prior conference presentations, and note trial registration and protocol details when applicable. It is not explicitly required for all submissions but is used to convey these disclosures to the editors.
Title Page Include a separate title page with the manuscript title; full author names; institutional affiliations (department, institution, city, state, country); corresponding author’s email; and ORCID iDs if available.
Abstract A structured abstract (150–250 words) is required with Purpose, Methods, Results, and Conclusion. Add the trial registration number and date as the last line when applicable. A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 keywords must be present.
Key Points Provide a 65-word Take-Home Message that succinctly states how the work advances current knowledge. This will be published with the paper.
Main Manuscript Headings No specific section headings are mandated, but a clear, logical structure is expected. Ensure methods include ethics/IRB and consent statements where applicable and RCTs conform to CONSORT.
Reference Format Use numeric in-text citations in square brackets and number the reference list consecutively; include DOI links when available and use standard journal title abbreviations. A maximum of 30 references are permitted.
Figures Embed figures within the manuscript text in sequence; if file size prevents upload, submit large figures separately. Provide high-resolution files in accepted formats (e.g., EPS/TIFF). A maximum of 5 tables and/or figures are permitted.
Tables Number tables in order and cite them sequentially in the text with descriptive titles and footnotes as needed. Prepare tables to fit within an A4 portrait width. A maximum of 5 tables and/or figures are permitted.
Additional Documents Include the appropriate EQUATOR checklist; CONSORT checklist/flow diagram for RCTs; IRB/ethics approval and informed consent statements; trial registration details and protocol citation; ICMJE disclosure forms for all authors; and permissions for reused material.
Word Count A maximum word limit of 3,000 words is permitted.
