Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must include a highlight of the manuscript in no more than two short sentences, a statement that all authors agree with the submission, and a conflict of interest statement.
Abstract An unstructured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Manuscript must be 4,000-6,000 words excluding abstract, references, figures and tables. Manuscript must be organized in the following order: Title page, Abstract, Introduction, Results, Discussion, Materials and methods, Acknowledgements, Conflict of interests, Contributions, References, Figure legends, Tables, Figures. Manuscript must include a conflict of interests section and a contributions section.
References Manuscript must include no less than 40 references. References must follow Nature style. In-text citations must be superscript numbers in citation order, references must be listed numerically, all authors must be listed for references with up to five authors, references with more than five authors must list the first author followed by et al., and first and last page numbers must be provided.
Figures & Tables Manuscript must include more than 5 tables/figures. Figures must be provided as individual files, figure legends must be inserted in the article text file, and tables must appear in the manuscript. Figures and tables must be labelled sequentially, numbered, and cited in the text.

Review Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must include a manuscript highlight of no more than two short sentences, a statement that all authors agree with the submission, and a conflict of interest statement.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must be unstructured and must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Manuscript must be at least 8,000 words excluding the abstract, references, figures, and tables. Manuscript must include a short Introduction giving the rationale for the review, sections with appropriate subheadings, and a conclusions section at the end. Manuscript must include the footer headings Acknowledgements, Contributions, Competing Interests, and Funding.
References Manuscript must include at least 100 references. References must follow Nature style. In-text citations must be superscript numbers in citation order, the reference list must be numbered in that same order, papers with up to five authors must list all authors, papers with more than five authors must list only the first author followed by et al., and first and last page numbers must be provided.
Figures & Tables Manuscript must include at least 5 tables and/or figures. Figures must be provided as individual files, while figure legends must be inserted in the article text file. Figures and tables must be labelled sequentially, numbered, and cited in the text.

References References must follow Nature style. Figures & Tables Figures and tables must not be included.

References References must follow Nature style. In-text citations must be superscript numbers in citation order, and the reference list must be numbered accordingly with all authors listed for up to five authors or only the first author followed by et al. for more than five authors.
Figures & Tables Figures must be uploaded as individual files, and figure legends must be included in the article text file. Figures and tables must be numbered sequentially and cited in the text.
