Japanese Dental Science Review

Japanese Dental Science Review is the official journal of the Japan Dental Association and the Japanese Association for Dental Science. It aims to introduce modern aspects of dental sciences from Japan in a comprehensive and comparative way, contribute to the development of basic and clinical dental sciences worldwide, and share updated information with foreign researchers and dentists. The journal is devoted to review papers; many are invited, but unsolicited submissions are welcome and undergo peer refereeing.

Japanese Dental Science Review accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Review Article

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 200 words.
Manuscript Review Article manuscripts must be 3,000 to 6,500 words excluding references. Articles must be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections. Manuscripts must include up to 6 keywords after the abstract, a conflicts of interest statement, funding and acknowledgement statements as applicable, and an AI declaration section before the references if generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in writing.
References References must follow Vancouver style. References must be cited as consecutive Arabic numerals in square brackets, reuse the same number for repeat citations, abbreviate journal titles according to Index Medicus, and list the first six authors followed by et al. when there are more than six.
Figures & Tables Figure legends must be provided on a separate page and high-resolution graphics files must be submitted separately from the main text file. Tables must be numbered consecutively in the order cited and should not duplicate results described elsewhere in the article.

Letter To The Editor

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is not required because Letter To The Editor submissions do not carry an abstract.
Manuscript Letter To The Editor manuscripts must be up to 600 words in length. Letter To The Editor submissions must respond to material published in the journal to make small clinical points or introduce a point of view. If generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in writing, include a declaration section before the references, and if there are no conflicts of interest, state 'Conflicts of interest: none'.
References Letter To The Editor submissions may include up to 5 references. References must follow Vancouver style. Citations must use consecutive Arabic numerals in square brackets, with the same number reused for repeat citations, and references must list all authors or the first six plus et al. if there are more than six.
Figures & Tables Letter To The Editor submissions must not include illustrations. High-resolution graphics files must be provided separate from the main text file. Figure legends must be listed on a separate page, and tables must be numbered consecutively in the order cited.
