Original Reports

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must describe the significance and uniqueness of the work, note any similar work previously reported by the authors, and mention any prior correspondence with the journal about the manuscript.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. The abstract must be 275 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings PURPOSE, PATIENTS AND METHODS or a similar methods heading, RESULTS, and CONCLUSION.
Manuscript Original Reports are limited to 3,000 words, although initial submission may exceed this limit by up to 1,000 words. The abstract must be placed after the title page. Original Reports require a Context Summary, and for JCO Precision Oncology it must be fewer than 150 words and include the headings Key objective, Knowledge generated, and Relevance.
References References must be numbered in the order in which they are cited in the text.
Figures & Tables Original Reports are limited to 6 figures and tables. Tables must be placed at the end of the manuscript. Figure legends must be included in the manuscript file, and extended patient demographic data must be included in a table rather than in the text.

Review Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must describe the work's significance and uniqueness and note any prior correspondence with the journal about the manuscript.
Abstract An abstract is required. The abstract must be 275 words. Systematic reviews, consensus guidelines, and meta-analyses must use a structured abstract, while other Review Articles must use an unstructured abstract. Structured abstracts must use the headings PURPOSE, DESIGN, RESULTS, and CONCLUSION.
Manuscript Review Articles are limited to 4,000 words, although initial submission may exceed this limit by no more than 1,000 words. Review Articles must provide an unbiased and comprehensive perspective on previously published work in an area of clinical relevance and should be disease-focused, examine new data in the field, and describe applications to practice. The abstract must be placed after the title page, and an optional graphical abstract consisting of one graphical abstract per manuscript may be included at revision.
References Review Articles are limited to 150 references. References must be numbered in the order in which they are cited in the text.
Figures & Tables Review Articles are limited to 6 figures and tables. Tables must be placed at the end of the manuscript. Figure legends must be included in the manuscript file, and tables must be cited in the order in which they appear in the text using Arabic numerals.

Case Reports

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must describe the significance and uniqueness of the work, note any similar work previously reported by the authors, and include any prior correspondence about the manuscript.
Abstract Abstract must not be included.
Manuscript Manuscript is limited to 1,500 words. Case report should provide a brief overview of the case and a concise literature review. Case report must be supported by data, provide access to primary data, and include the variant, platform, and targeted therapy used.
References References are limited to 20. References must be numbered in the order in which they are cited in the text.
Figures & Tables Figures and tables are limited to 3 total. Tables must be placed at the end of the manuscript. Figure legends must be included in the manuscript file.

Correspondence

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must describe the significance and uniqueness of the work and note any prior correspondence with the journal about the manuscript.
Abstract Abstract must not be included.
Manuscript Correspondence is limited to 750 words, although initial submission may exceed this limit by no more than 1,000 words.
References Correspondence is limited to 10 references. References must be numbered in the order in which they are cited in the text, and letters responding to a JCO article must include the reference to that article.
Figures & Tables Tables must be placed at the end of the manuscript, and figure legends must be included in the manuscript file.

Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 275 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings PURPOSE, PATIENTS AND METHODS or a similar methods heading, RESULTS, and CONCLUSION.
Manuscript Manuscript is limited to 4,000 words, although initial submission may exceed this limit by no more than 1,000 words. Abstract must be placed after the title page. Funding sources and the methods used to select guideline committee membership must be explicitly stated, and the processes for deliberation must be clearly described and free of bias.
References References must be numbered in the order in which they are cited in the text.
Figures & Tables Special Articles are limited to a combined total of 6 figures and tables. Tables must be placed at the end of the manuscript. Figure legends must be included in the manuscript file.
