The Journal of Applied Sport Psychology is a peer reviewed journal that publishes research advancing thought, theory, and research on applied aspects of sport and exercise psychology. It is an official publication of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology and welcomes submissions including experimental studies, qualitative research, correlational studies, case studies, position papers, critical reviews, and theoretical developments with significant applied implications to sport and exercise.

Research Article

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Research Articles must include an abstract. Abstract must be 250 words. Abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 30 double-spaced pages for quantitative submissions or 35 double-spaced pages for qualitative submissions, including tables, figures, and references. Manuscript must include a title page, abstract, main text with introduction, materials and methods, results, and discussion, acknowledgments, declaration of interest statement, references, appendices as appropriate, tables, figures, and figure captions, with the lay summary placed after the abstract and Implications for Practice placed after the lay summary. Manuscript must include a 50-word lay summary, up to three bullet-point implications for practice, a word count, complete references, a disclosure statement, a funding statement, and a statement disclosing whether and how generative AI was used in the research and manuscript preparation process.
References References must be prepared in accordance with the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, Seventh Edition, 2020. Complete references are required.
Figures & Tables Figures must be saved separately from the text. Tables must present new information, be interpretable without reference to the text, and be supplied as editable files.

Manuscript must include a word count, a declaration of interest statement, and a statement disclosing whether and how generative AI was used in the research and manuscript preparation process.
References References must follow APA 7th edition style.
Figures & Tables Figures must be saved separately from the text. Tables must present new information rather than duplicate the text and must be interpretable without reference to the text.
