The Journal of Behavioral Medicine is a broadly conceived interdisciplinary publication devoted to understanding physical health and illness through behavioral science and applying that knowledge to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and health promotion at individual, community, and population levels. It publishes basic and applied behavioral medicine research across disciplines including psychology, medicine, public health, sociology, anthropology, health economics, nursing, and biostatistics, covering topics such as disease prevention, stress, sociocultural influences on health, adherence, health-related behaviors, health services research, and behavioral factors in somatic disorders.

Regular Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must be 150 to 250 words, although up to 450 words is allowed if needed for full compliance with reporting guidelines.
Manuscript Regular Articles must not exceed 30 double-spaced manuscript pages including all figures, captions, tables, notes, and references. Manuscript must include a section entitled "Declarations" before the reference list. Manuscript must include 4 to 6 keywords, a data availability statement, a disclosure statement, a "Statements and Declarations" heading with relevant declarations, and documentation of any large language model use in the Methods section or another suitable section if no Methods section is available.
References References must follow APA style. Citations must use name-and-year format in the text, and the reference list must contain only cited published or accepted works and be alphabetized by the last name of the first author.
Figures & Tables Artwork must be supplied separately from the text, and each table must be typed on a separate page. Illustrations must be numbered in a single consecutive series of Arabic numerals, tables must be referred to by number in the text, and table numbering and format must follow APA style.

Manuscript Brief Report submissions must not exceed 15 double-spaced pages total, including title page, abstract, references, tables, and figures. Manuscript must include 5–6 keywords below the abstract, a Declarations section before the reference list with the required headings even if marked 'Not applicable,' and documentation of any large language model use in the Methods section or another suitable section if no Methods section is available.
References References must follow APA style. Citations must use author-date style in text, the reference list must be alphabetized by the first author's last name, include only cited published or accepted works, include article titles, and give full DOI links when available.
Figures & Tables Artwork must be supplied separately from the text, and each table must be typed on a separate page. Illustrations must be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals, captions must be provided on a separate sheet, tables must be referred to by number in the text, and table numbering and format must follow APA style.
