Research Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must briefly outline the study’s major findings and their significance or impact and state that the manuscript and all included materials are not previously published and are not under consideration elsewhere.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must be unstructured and must not exceed 300 words. Abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 6,000 words. Manuscript must include the sections Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion. Manuscript must include a lay summary of no more than 100 words and 5 to 10 keywords.
References Reference list must contain 10 to 50 references. Manuscript must follow AMA style.
Figures & Tables Manuscript may include no more than 8 display items in total, including tables and figures. Figure titles, legends, and captions must be included within the manuscript file, and tables must be placed at the end of the main text. Each figure must be submitted as a separate file, with multi-panel figures provided as a single file.

Abstract An abstract is required. The abstract must not exceed 300 words. The abstract must be unstructured. No mandatory abstract headings are specified.
Manuscript The manuscript must not exceed 6,000 words. The manuscript must include a lay summary after the abstract, 5 to 10 keywords, and is a commissioned review article with two or more co-authors from different institutions. The lay summary must not exceed 100 words.
References The manuscript must include 50 to 150 references. References must follow AMA style. No reference-specific formatting rules beyond AMA style are explicitly stated.
Figures & Tables The manuscript may include no more than 8 display items in total, including tables and figures. Figure titles, legends, and captions must be included in the manuscript file, each figure must be uploaded as a separate file, and tables must be placed at the end of the main text. Tables must be supplied in an editable format rather than as images and numbered consecutively in citation order.

Manuscript Manuscript should aim to be approximately 3,000 words and must not exceed 4 printed pages, and it must include a vignette of 150 to 200 words. Manuscript must be organized with the headings Title, Vignette, Case Description, Clinical Problem, Differential Diagnosis and Investigations, Diagnosis, Treatment and Progression, Discussion, Unanswered questions, Conclusions and Future Directions, Key Points, References, and Illustrations. Manuscript must include a box at the end summarizing no more than 5 key points.
References References must not exceed 10. Manuscript must follow AMA style.
Figures & Tables Illustrations should usually total 2, typically 1 table and 1 figure, and exceptionally no more than 3. Tables must be placed at the end of the main text. Figure titles, legends, and captions must be included within the manuscript file.
