Research Article

Cover Letter Cover letter is required. Cover letter must provide full contact information for the corresponding author and declare any business relationships that might lead to a conflict of interest.
Abstract Abstract is required. Structured abstract must not exceed 300 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Purpose, Materials and Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Main body text must not exceed 8000 words excluding the abstract, legends, and references. Manuscript must be divided into clearly defined sections and contain the essential elements including Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Conclusions. Manuscript must include a summary declaration of interest statement, author contribution disclosures including that all authors approved the final article, a funding statement if no funding was received, subject terms, and an AI-use declaration at the end of the manuscript before the references if generative AI was used.
References Reference list must contain no more than 100 references. References must be cited numerically in the text and listed in numerical order. All authors must be listed for papers with up to six authors, papers with more than six authors must list the first three followed by et al., first and last page numbers must be provided, abstracts and letters must be identified as such, and journal names must be abbreviated using the List of Title Word Abbreviations.
Figures & Tables Research Articles may include a maximum of 6 tables and figures in total. Figures and tables in the submission file must be placed next to the relevant text with each caption directly below the figure or table. Tables must be submitted as editable text rather than images, figures and tables must be numbered consecutively in the order cited, and each illustration must have a caption explaining symbols and abbreviations.

Abstract An unstructured abstract is required for Review articles. The abstract must not exceed 300 words. The abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript The main body text must be no more than 8000 words, excluding the abstract, legends, and references. A declaration of generative AI use must be included at the end of the manuscript before the references if such tools were used in manuscript preparation.
References Review articles may include no more than 150 references. References must be cited in the text as numbers starting at 1 and listed at the end in numerical order, with all authors listed for up to six authors and the first three followed by et al. for more than six authors.
